Yeah. Its the Sunday after the PPM's crash and burn in the 2009 Cayman Islands Elections. The supporters of the UDP are euphoric, and I do not blame them.

In 2005 when we trounced them, so were we. But unlike them we did not a) hand out cards at a polling station with out candidates names on it with X's next to the names b) run candidates that were constitutionally barred from being elected c) fail to disavow ourselves from the misconduct referred to in a).

Neither did we appoint a Deputy Leader of Government Business, when there is no such animal in the Constitution. They did it in 2003 and now they're doing it again. I wonder if their supporters are aware of this?

But, I congratulate the UDP, and understand that it is their time. I respect the democratic process, to the extent that it was not perverted by any interference or corruption.

I give credit to the UDP for attracting the first time voters. They did so effectively.

But, the PPM will rise again, stronger than ever. 4 of our 5 former ministers won their seats, and 1 of our 5 backbencher won his (Moses).

Out of the 5, 3 were first elected.

PPM will rise again.

Bloody Dawn

Yes, folks, having supported my political folks as an executive committee member and supporter in what was a bruising, hard fought campaign, we were defeated at the polls yesterday in emphatic fashion.

So today I feel bruised and battered, but not down and out.

Well, just for the heck of it, I uploaded 2 old photos of my sons. Yeah. By next week I will be normal, ok. Yeah.

Thanks to Ms. Cute Pants, for her continued posts, and her latest post about her snorkelling. She is a good ambassador for the Cayman Islands. (Again, I have re-learn the whole link thing).

Despite that Facebook had distracted me away from bloggage, she still manages to keep me on her blogroll. She is too kind. Thanks CP!

Its quite a difference moving between Facebook and Blogger, since Facebook is so brainless - a status update can be just one word. I admire the bloggers who constantly seek out new bloggage material. They are true bloggionistas.

I will change the profile a bit and think of a real post.

Well done to the West Indies for a decent showing in the recent tour by England. Not easy to deal with England's batting and bowling lineup, so I think credit is due to both teams, and in my case I will give special big ups to the West Indies. Rally!

Saturday Bloggage

Yeah, folks, well, just came from my son's Saturday Morning Hockey Game. Well, his team lost 1-5, and are coming to the end of their season.

He is a bit of an exception in terms of the typical Roller Hockey family around here - typically - but there you go.

He had 2 games as goalie the first season, and the team somehow decided to let him close out the season with 2 games in goal. And, for the first time, he is saying he is not enjoying it in goal. I guess most parents want to see their child scoring goals, and maybe we were the only ones bidding for slap shot positions. After all, this is his first season in Roller Hockey.

US Auto industry

Isnt it something that its only GM, Chrysler and Ford who are asking for a bailout. And all Uncle Sam wants is an account of how it will be spent and how it will be repaid, and they will not account for it, and the bailout is now in danger.

Toyota USA, Nissan USA and all the other Japanese companies with huge investments in the US are not asking for anything. Sure, they are having a slowdown as well, but they are not asking the government to prop them up.

How much will the US taxpayer be able to stand, propping up the financial industry and the Auto industry, while they themselves are immersed in mortgage failures, and bank failures.

And, ironically, the Auto industry arrived in Washington, on company business jets, to beg 25 billion dollars. Great, isnt it.

A few months ago, after the financial industry bailout, AIG, one of the companies receiving bailout money, spent $440,000 on a retreat for their staff.... Nice, isnt it?

Just what in the Lord's name is going on?

Lawd.

I dont even know how to post a link any more. But Ms. Cute pants I have met her now that she lives here in the Islands that time forgot - what I delightful lady - and what an expert bloggonomist.

I abandoned bloggitis for Facebook, and I have been having a nice time, but I guess its a different cinting altogether.

Folks, how are you doing - How are you doing my folks in Jam Rock - sorry I wont make it there until 09, if the Lord spares me.

Of course the Bullist is still about, and I read his posts from time to time.

Lots more work here in my office that the last time I blogged, so hopefully I can continue with the general bloggage.

All manner of problems everywhere, from Wall Street to Main Street, as they say. Financial meltdowns causing those who make a living from liquidations and deregistration of investment funds to do well.

However my work seems to have dodged the poison arrow so far, and I hope this continues in 09.

I could not even remember by login and password just now.

I expected Blogger may have closed my account, and that expectation rose when I couldn't log on. Anyway, my senior moment finished, and I got on.

Just a general shout out to folks out there, some of whom may have given up on this blog since this is the first post in a couple of months.

I have to thank the Bull for his help with my practice's website - it turns out I will now be involved in the posting for a blog run by a community organisation of which I am a part.

I got this opportunity to do a quickie post because I was waiting on a backup to complete on my work pc - so, may be I should back up more often.

Wet Friday

Folks

I mentioned at least once before how en vogue the term "diaspora" has become recently, at least where I've been reading/listening, i.e. Jamrock newspapers and radio talk shows.

The word is so weird to me , it sounds like some kind of conundrum. Or, it sounds like you're caught in a coccoon, depending on the context in which it is spoken or written. I tell you what, some persons use it to connote some kind of exile - the only thing I know is this, I ain't in no diaspora, dude. I am who I am.

Another thing.

Folks, I haven't blogged so much in 2007. The record is there for all to see. I did not delete any posts. It can't be as much as 10 this year. If so thats plenty. And, in July or so, I took up the sport of skeet shooting, and I believe I am addicted. I mean it is really exciting.

Anyway, all the folks down at the range seem to think I am smitten. I feel the fever. I tried pistol the first day, trap another day, and then since that its been all skeet. Its wickid, yute..

Cricinfo.com is widely regarded as the premeir cricketing website.

Whilst I recognise its qualities, I have always noted that its writers write about the Windies with disdain. Not that much people like the Windies these days. When I ask my bloggionistas to big them up, they usually comment "Bun Fyah" and other such ridicule, some of which is love in disguise, by the way.

Anyway, Tony Cosier's artice is buried deep on Cricinfo, and
here it is.

As a headline on Cricinfo, it is glaringly (but expectedly) absent. Anyway, what will those *&&^#^)#'s say when the Windies continue to grow from strength to strength. Its just a matter of time.

Anyway, for you non-cricketing (pathetic) bloggionistas, here's a bit for you.

ONE
Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an
order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets. I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
"We don't have half dozen nuggets," said the teenager at the counter.
"You don't?" I replied. "We only have six, nine,
or twelve," was the reply. "So I can't order a half dozen nuggets,
but I can order six?" "That's right." So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets

TWO
I was checking out at the local Wal-Mart with just a few items and
the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine.
I picked up one of those "dividers" that they keep by the cash register
and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed.
After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the "divider",
looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.
Not finding the bar code she said to me, "Do you know how much this is?"
I said to her "I've changed my mind, I don't think I'll buy that today."
She said "OK," and I paid her for the things and left.
She had no clue to what had just happened.

THREE
A lady at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive
and pulling it out very quickly. When I inquired as to what she was doing,
she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number,
so she was using the ATM "thingy."

FOUR
I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car.
"Do you need some help?" I asked. She replied, "I knew I should have replaced the
battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they
(pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?"
"Hmmm, I dunno. Do you have an alarm, too?" I asked. "No, just this remote thingy,"
she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually
unlocked the door, I replied, "Why don't you drive over there and check
about the batteries. It's a long walk." (she had no clue either!)

FIVE
Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift.
One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said,
"I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?"
"Just use copier machine paper," the secretary told her.
With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper,
put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five "blank" copies.

SIX
I was in a car dealership a while ago, when a large motor home was
towed into the garage. The front of the vehicle was in dire need of repair
and the whole thing generally looked like an extra in "Twister."
I asked the manager what had happened. He told me that the driver had
set the "cruise control" and then went in the back to make a sandwich.

SEVEN
My neighbor works in the operations department in the central office
of a large bank. Employees in the field call him when they have problems with
their computers. One night he got a call from a woman in one of the branch banks
who had this question: "I've got smoke coming from the back of my terminal.
Do you guys have a fire downtown?"

EIGHT
Police in Radnor , Pa. interrogated a suspect by placing a metal colander on
his head and connecting it with wires to a photocopy machine. The message
"He's lying" was placed in the copier, and police pressed the copy button each time
they thought the suspect wasn't telling the truth. Believing the "lie detector" was working,
the suspect confessed.

NINE
A mother calls 911 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her
kid to the emergency room, the kid was eating ants. The dispatcher tells her to give
the kid some Benadryl and it should be fine.
The mother says, "Okay, but, I just gave him some ant killer..... "
Dispatcher: "Rush him in to emergency room!"

Life is tough.
It's tougher if you're stupid.

The First Affair

A married man was having an affair with his secretary. One day they went to her place and made love all afternoon. Exhausted, they fell asleep and woke up at 8 PM. The man hurriedly dressed and told his lover to take his shoes outside and rub them in the grass and dirt. He put on his shoes and drove home. "Where have you been?" his wife demanded. "I can't lie to you," he replied, "I'm having an affair with my secretary. We had sex all afternoon." She looked down at his shoes and said: "You lying bastard! You've been playing golf!"

The Second Affair

A middle-aged couple had two beautiful daughters but always talked about having a son. They decided to try one last time for the son they always wanted. The wife got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby boy. The joyful father rushed to the nursery to see his new son. He was horrified at the ugliest child he had ever seen. He told his wife: "There's no way I can be the father of this baby. Look at the two beautiful daughters I fathered! Have you been fooling around behind my back?" The wife smiled sweetly and replied: "Not this time!"

The Third Affair

A mortician was working late one night. He examined the body of Mr. Schwartz, about to be cremated, and made a startling discovery. Schwartz had the largest private part he had ever seen! "I'm sorry Mr. Schwartz," the mortician commented, "I can't allow you to be cremated with such an impressive private part. It must be saved for posterity." So, he removed it, stuffed it into his briefcase, and took it home. "I have something to show you that you won't believe," he said to his wife, opening his briefcase. "My God!" the wife exclaimed, "Schwartz is dead!" The Fourth Affair A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband opening the front door. "Hurry," she said, "stand in the corner." She rubbed baby oil all over him, then dusted him with talcum powder. "Don't move until I tell you," she said, "pretend you're a statue." "What's this?" the husband inquired as he entered the room. "Oh it's a statue," she replied, "the Smiths bought one and I liked it so I got one for us, too." No more was said, not even when they went to bed. Around 2 AM the husband got up, went to the kitchen and returned with a sandwich and a beer. "Here," he said to the statue, have this. I stood like that for two days at the Smiths and nobody offered me a damned thing."

The Fifth Affair

A man walked into a cafe, went to the bar and ordered a beer. "Certainly, Sir, that'll be one cent." "One Cent?" the man exclaimed. He glanced at the menu and asked: "How much for a nice juicy steak and a bottle of wine?" "A nickel," the barman replied. "A nickel?" exclaimed the man. "Where's the guy who owns this place?" The bartender replied: "Upstairs, with my wife." The man asked: "What's he doing upstairs with your wife?" The bartender replied: "The same thing I'm doing to his business down here."

The Sixth Affair

Jake was dying. His wife sat at the bedside. He looked up and said weakly: "I have something I must confess." "There's no need to, " his wife replied. "No," he insisted, "I want to die in peace. I slept with your sister, your best friend, her best friend, and your mother!" "I know," she replied, "now just rest and let the poison work."

In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the lover are
in
the closet together.
Boy - "Dark in here."
Man - "Yes, it is."
Boy - "I have a baseball glove."
The lover remembering the last time, asks the boy, "How much?"
Boy - "$750"
Man - "Fine."

A few days later, the father says to the boy, "Grab your glove, let's
go outside and have a game of catch."
The boy says, "I can't, I sold my baseball and my glove."
The father asks, "How much ! did you sell them for?"
Boy - "$1,000"
The father says, "That's terrible to overcharge your friends like
that...that is way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take
you to church and make you confess."

They go to the church and the father makes the little boy sit in the
confession booth and he closes the door.

Well, the Windiess have been receiving some bitch licks down in no-man's land. And, although they came back to get high 500's declared, in 2 days they couldn't bowl out the Marylebone Cricket Club team, made up of mainly university students, including Sir Viv's son.

And Sarwan is back home to nurse a sore shoulder - and Samuels will be back in the crease, hopefully to do something this time.

Well - I will watch them this coming Thursday, hopefully it will be on Sports Max..

Well, thankfully, our one week plus of rain has subsided, and the place has begun to dry out. We had all started to look like wet chickens. And our cars are full of mud. I will wash the beast this evening, hopefully - I like to wash her myself.

I'm here waiting for 2 pieces of much promised business - hopefully they arrive before long otherwise I'll be living outside.

Well, my weekend in Kinsgton was enjoyable - we had lunch at Strawberry Hill on Saturday 26th May - I will try to post some photos on another post.

An you may be sick of reading about it, but I don't care I tell you because I love the summavabitch. Anyhow I will leave her alone for today, since she cause me so much horrors, especially where the Windies are concerned.

Anyhow, tell me something, how about these chain emails? The ones which attempt under threat of life or ill health (and other manner of rassin' up) to get you to forward or return the email. What in heaven's name is the significance of returning some stupid email to the sender?

How about the scam ones asking you to receive some pile of money that needs to leave some place like Sierra Leone or Nigeria. Boy some of these folks really have time. Have mercy.

And what about the hoaxes. How about The one that says that AOL or CNN is tracking the email and will donate 10 cents per email forwarded to some destitute person. There was even one about Leptosporosis (spelling?) on the tops of soda cans, and some lady died on a boat?

How about the Spam? Since I have been using C&W anti-spam, its been a lot better -

How about OJ being kicked out of that restaurant? Was it race based? The owner says Michael Jordan sat at the same table right after OJ left so it aint about race.

Hey how about Blogger's new features - no more fiddling around with HTML - thats excellent for me, I tell you because I am what you call a PC dummy. All dem yellow books are for me.

Lastly, please support the Windies, - lets see if they can do anything in England. Somehow I believe Lara's departure will help them improve. Sorry I broke my promise you no she's always on my mind (Note that cricket now has a gender, even though in this post she started as a S.O.B., which has male connotations).

Stuff

Aussies have once again shown their world cricket dominance by seizing the world cup amidst a bit of confusion in the final at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

We should have really won that Super 8 game against England - they really recovered to get that 300 in the last over, with the last 2 batsmen at the crease.

When the Windies lost a match recently, people complained because they took 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers, instead of 6/5.

Really, a lot of teams must think (and rightly so) that we are fools, because they have 7-8 genuine bowlers and batsmen in their teams - even Ireland is beginning to show such depth and all round skill.

What a toll this has taken on certain persons, apart from the death of a coach and Ireland's former head of their cricket association.

Lara retires, England coach Fletcher resigns before they fired him, New Zealand captain Fletcher resigns, McGrath retires (he was going to anyway), Inzamam quits, and a few more heads are bobbling around the place..Even the WICB chairman is trying to quit, but to confirm what fools we are, we are trying to hold on to him even if for a few weeks, as well - boy we really hate ourselves.

Anyway, the Windies are going to England in Mid-May - what do you think folks?

Well- Once again, Gayle failed to fire, Samuels and Taylor were not in the lineup, and one has to ask questions about lots of things. With SA amassing 356 it is clear we were not bowling. Bravo was being whipped around the ground at will. Taylor should have been there to bowl -
Congrats to Darren Powell on his 48, and to Sarwan on his 92. Unfortunately there was nothing else to think of - We ended up with 289 which was respectable - I think our biggest failure was bowling.

The loudest congrats are due to AB de villiers on his massive maiden ODI century - 146!

Easter time

Well, having been to church early this morning, and then to a breakfast at one of the members house afterwards, I am lazing around, watching England battle Australia -

Its a bit of a dilemna for me, as I usually want England to go down no matter what - but, someone really needs to beat Australia, and for today I'll accept it even if England does the job, after all, everyone else, including the Windies, have failed.

At this point, with about 20 over left in the game, England are really starting to pile on the pressure - hope England wins, just this once.

Went to a wedding last night at Bride House in West Bay - one of my friends tied the knot - Bride House is very nice, sort of a small botanical garden.

The Million Dollar Run race is tomorrow - its a high stakes powerboat race held every Easter Monday, Tami Chynn will be there - should be nice.

3 consecutive defeats for the Windies.

Well - this is a downhill ride at the moment. Recriminations after the loss to the Kiwis - with the public accusations made about Lendl Simmons being included, I did not think it would have been possible to win today against Sri Lanka playing any 11 players. Players go into matches thinking about things like that. Leave that to the foreign press - but we do not need such backbiting from within, and from no less than a former Windies fast bowler.

So - who do you like - is it Aussie or Kiwi -I dont know I think Australia will win this. They are very tough.

A well known columnist in Jamaica (who I have quoted here before) said that the Windies are "lacking in cerebral activity". Whoa - harsh, even if true. Well the truth does sometimes hurt. As Simon Cowell says, it does not help to give people false hope.

Well I am headed to a family reunion in Jamrock next month. The organiser, a distant relative who I have never met, seems to be caving under the pressures of organisation. She has 80 people booked, and she has been receiving demands for lower catering prices, and at the same time she is being asked for more services at the event, e.g. professional videographer/photographer etc. I emailed her and told them just do what she can - she is being helped by my cousins in Jamrock on this.

Looking forward to Windies cricket - there is life after the World Cup -

Well - I pause for a moment and celebrate the life of Bob Woolmer, Pakistan's late coach. In 1994, he was Brian Lara's coach at Warwickshire, so indirectly, he developed West Indies Cricket.

News was published in the UK today that he apparently succumbed to overdoses of prescription medicine along with heavy alcohol intake - however this was before an autopsy was performed in Kingston, Jamaica Today.

Despite this sad situation WCC continues to roar along - the Irish having impressed everyone, especially with their victory over Pakistan on St. Paddy's day - what an Irish celebration.

There is a security guard who always lets me park in a certain bank's parking lot, and today he said to me "Ah watchin out for the team they call Irieland".

The Windies have already qualified for the Super Eights, but they do play Ireland on Friday. B.C. Lara et al will be looking to drink them for Guiness.

The Irish's previous match with Zimbabwe was a thriller, actually able to pull of a tie with them - Kenya did not get anywhere today with the Kiwis, but it did start in an exciting way with one wicket for no runs. However NZ stayed at the crease and built up 331 runs, and Kenya never came close.

The Windies have taken some criticism on their uneventful win over Zimbabwe - but I cannot help thinking that this criticism is motivated by a dissapointment on the part of Cricinfo and other publications that the West Indies have advanced. There was no need for us to play as if it were baseball or a 20/20 match and lose silly wickets. I say leave them alone - a win is a win - even though Zimbabwe must be given max credit because they bowled and fielded tightly. They did not have to field tightly for Samuels' dismissal - that looked like a curry goat cricket shot, to rass. A blind man could have caught that shot. Anyhow - the ball is round.

Rally round the West Indies on Friday, folks - it will hopefully be cricket, lovely cricket.

Well, it was nice to see the Windies bowl themselves into victory at their first WI match.

241 was not a winning total, so although the total was not dismal, Pakistan does have some dangerous batsmen, so it was a bit unnerving - a decent one day total is more round 275 or higher.

And with 37 year old Lara getting 37, and then Gayle getting out in the 1st over, things were looking shaky at first.

But, people like Marlon Samuels and Dwayne Smith added a dimension to the teams depth in batting which was missing in the early 2000's.

How do you like that 6 that ended the innings?

Mikey Holding's pitch analysis said that a lot of runs would have been scored that day, but it appeared to have been a bowler's pitch -

So, to bowl out Pakistan for 18o odd was quite a feat for our bowlers and fielders - and Samuel's sixty odd was a very good knock.

Some matches on today- Bermuda were giving Sri Lanka lots of extra's, one over was 14 balls due to no balls and wide's - and even though they managed to injure Jayasuriya, who is one of Sri Lanka's (and the world's) best cricketers, I am sure Sri Lanka will take care of Bermuda very easily.

Everyone assumes that there are 8 teams that could win this WCC:

West Indies
Australia
Sri Lanka
India
Pakistan
South Africa
New Zealand
Either Zimbabwe or Bangladesh for the 8th spot

But, what if some of these collapse early -

This morning - David Lloyd - the former England coach who is good at making enemies, said that we should watch out for Ireland - so matters will be interesting if any of the test teams are upset by the so called minnows.

Well, as I write India is defending a soft target of 85 all out, set by the West Indies. Well, I, along with millions of other West Indies fans, are used to this by now.

The only problem with it is that the more this type of performance (does it deserve to be labelled "performance"?) continues, then the more fans become dissillusioned with the West Indian team.

I saw Australia just a while ago, at Arnos Vale, replying to England's 198. Hopefully Australia beats them, I suppose that is a predictable attitude from me. England must go down!

The tear gas incident in Trinidad wasn't nice either. What the hell is going on? Did the local organising committee let the Pakistan and South Africa teams know that there was an ongoing industrial dispute at the particular hotel they were staying in? I would like the answer whether or not the tear gas was related to the dispute -

Hopefully matters progress positively in WCC 2007 - no matter who wins.

By the way, how are folks supposed to pay these ticket prices for WCC? Amazing. Its clear they don't want certain people, although I know the ICC controls a lot of these things.

This article is in the Star in Jamaica, which is a bit on the "rag" side of journalism, but it ain't nice, none the less. There a number of serious things arising out of this.

I have asked women with weave and other hair cintings why they are often patting their head - and one in particular told me that it was so as not to scratch it, because some of the hair might come undone, or drop out to rass! Just another one of those curious things.

Resurrection

Well, it ain't that dramatic.

This has been my longest non-post. I wondered if by now my memberhship with Blogger may have lapsed. But, no, there it was, old faithful, still on line.

Well, I was not too comfortable with a couple of comments about my bloggionista Teenage Perfectionist - which were posted on my site about her, I guess to avoid actually having to comment on her site.

Well, her site is not online - I hope to hear from her soon.

I don't know, the blog world gets a bit testy some times. I deal with it by staying out of the fray - I am happy for folks to disagree without getting personal - but hey, the world wide web has no limits, except the old delete button, which is usually at one's disposal.

Do you know why:

Sometimes, people, in mid cell phone conversation, lean the earpiece away from the ear and sort of bark into the mouthpiece, in an apparent attempt to get the mouth close to the mike? Boy whatever the reason, and maybe some of you have done it, it look foolish no rass.

My dear mother, she covers her mouth and the phone mouthpiece, in an apparent attempt to block out the background noise. Now that looks really strange to bumbo.

How about that American Idol? Who do you like? I like Melinda Doolittle - tell me who you like - and if you like Antonella because she done the posing thing, well, thats ok too.

My Dad just returned from a week of cath lab, ecg and all manner of tesses (thats how some folks pronounce the plural of test) on his ticker. But he is really a 70 year old dynamo. He came back today, all tesses keem ("came") out good.

You know I did a post about a few months ago about my little office, and how it has these partitions which are open to the passageway inside the suite. I discussed the lack of privacy to "tap suppn" and then you know, one of my friends, a singer, said to me that his office (or former office) was better for "tappin suppn". I was a bit clueless when he said this, but then I realise that rass, 'im muss be a bloggionista. Clue me in Mad Bull .

I thought I had done a post, to rass! Its not even saved as a draft. I wonder if Blogger ate it?

I wonder what happened to it? Maybe, like some of these hot Latinas around town, it lurks deep within my fantasy, but ain't nuttin happenin yet.

These curious words by someone who is supposed to be a minister of government are reminiscent of George Bush's words in relation to Iraq. Policies (or the execution thereof) are failing, therefore the answer is to "stay the course". Like Alice in Wonderland, this is "Curiouser and Curiouser".

Well, I once read someone's blog that said one ought not to apologise or comment on not posting for a long time, but I dont follow anyone else's standards, so I will say: Boy its a long time I havent posted. Tell you the truth I hardly have space in my mind for it, even if physically there is time to do it.

Hope to make it to Jamrock in May, even though I know that will definitely be political season, or "silly season" as it is called there. Its just a short weekend trip for a reunion. Hope to catch up with some of you. I'll be staying somewhere around Knutsford Blvd, most likely.

Hope you folks are doing ok - As you can see January is done, and I hope it treats you well.

I was happy for all of your New Year's greetings.

Just like my previous post, and many others, I am making this one up as I am going along.

I was whipped at squash today, hopefully I can avenge that beating, I can still feel it - the Bud Light that I had while washing my truck didn't help either, oh hell let me suck another.

I agree with your comments from my previous post, Eva Mendez is not hot, she's hawwwwwwwwwwt!!!! There she sits at left, feast your eyes (come on ladies you as well) on every ounce of that Latina hottie! Contemplate her every talent, on and off the screen.

I have another game on Monday, so hopefully I can get in a run tomorrow so that the old bones can feel a bit better on the court on the night.

I am here babysitting again, the wife has gone out on the town!

Oh well, she is more than entitled, she is more often than me the one stuck here babysitting.

Business is going well at my new office - I hope Afro and Mad Bull and my other Caymanian bloggionistas will touch down for a look - its still a work in progress.

I dont often watch Glenn Beck as he comes over as a bit hysterical to me, but he is on as I type about internet porn - I guess he is pretending he does not partake.

So, by comments, please let me know with candour, do you partake? One thing for sure, it may make a keyboard and mouse (even the screen) sticky, but as long as you stay put in front of your computer it is disease free sex, if you want to refer to it as sex.

I visited my previous employer today, Mad Bull take note. I had some business there, so it was nice to see the folks there.

Still here, not doing too much blogging, but I have been reading yours.

Usual boring Dad stuff - kids parties, - and yes - I am opening my new office shortly, having worked from home for the past year.

I was driving down Huldah Avenue on Thursday, rushing to the Land registry as usual, when I saw this handwritten sign marked "office space for rent" and I saw the phone number. By the time I got to Jacques Scott (just around the corner) I was talking to the landlord - and I went to see the place shortly after that.

I was none too enthused - it was 2 tiny rooms with separating walls that did not reach all the way to the ceiling - so it was not like a dude could tap suppn in one room without the other dude in the other room listenin.

Anyhow, the room is not for that kind of grinderation, its for my office, so I called my brother, my trusted construction/architecture confidant, and he told me I should take the place, so I did. I paid my deposit and signed my sub-lease today. I aint askin him to do no layout for it though, that will be too painful for me to bear - He told me he ga "spec" a desk for me - I tole him "Spec? I doan spec nuttin - I buy it". He so technical - as if I dont hear enuff pretence from lawyers. I jokin, he cool.

Holy shyte, what have I done now? Now I have to set up phone lines, get some furniture, move in my gear and get moving, hopefully before Christmas. There is a Canadian consulate, a recording studio, a musical instrument store and a cycle aerobics place in the same building. So, I do seem to have all sorts of neighbours.

Next week, its on to the desk, on to C&W to deal with the phone lines etc. Lawd, what the hell has gone on?

Folks, I will post a blog from there as soon as my phone line is in - it is the beginning of a new era - oh shit, sounds like Star Wars or suppn. (Or should I have said "this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius - that sounds more spaced out.)

Look at this Article in the Economist. British extremists are planning to attack their own country.

And that underground train bombing that killed so many people in London last year - this took place at Kings Cross station and a couple other tube stations that I used while studying there 10 years ago. Now, one has to be cautious of Al Qaeda. The world is truly in turmoil.

Now, look at that suicide bombing in Iraq this morning. A man pulls up to an area where Iraqis gather to get "days work", and a crowd of eager recruits gather around his car, then he detonates the car. Many are killed.

What about the fake checkpoint set up by so called insurgents, where American contractors are kidnapped, all of this and the Americans tell us that under Saddam Iraq was worse -

On a happier note, the Windies are playing Pakistan again today - hopefully they improve on the first game, when they suffered a big loss despite a masterful century by Lara. Today's match wil be Shiv's 100th test as well. Good occasion on which to do us proud.

Read where some lucky folks now have a daytime strip club - and the local Bishop is complaining.. oh well..

US Congress, Cricket, and other general stuff

Windies first: Not nice, losing the final in that way. Not so bad to lose, but 138 all out is really poor. And to think we were forty odd for no loss, then a collapse. However, they recovered from the 80 all out given to us by Sri Lanka to beat India, Australia, South Africa and then make it to the finals, although losing at the finals quite badly - so overall their performance still shows continued strengthening.

A test against Pakistan is about to start, and Bravo just made 109 in a draw against a Pakistan Cricket Board Select XI. So all the best for the Windies in this series. Hope we will have it on TV here.

US Congress: My what an ass-kicking the GOP has received in the US. And the last seat to be won in congress was the one where the losing Republican candidate, George Allen, had called a native American some kind of ethnic slur while on the campaign trail.

What will George do now - ok - Rumphole, I mean Rumsfeld has been forced to leave, but what change will the new regime bring to that travesty of a war in Iraq? Will the Democratic controlled Senate approve Bob Gates as the new Defense Secretary?

What will happen to US prime, and all the other lending rates which influence borrowing and credit even here in the Caribbean?

All will await the answers, as what happens in the US does affect the rest of the world.

Your West Indies Cricket Team, which I blog about ad infinitum to the chagrin of non-cricketing bloggionistas, has done you proud once again.

Chris Gayle, now the top six-hitter in world cricket, was not out with a huge ton and a half.

Jerome Taylor, whose photograph I posted on this here site as being the future of West Indies cricket, was uprooting wickets like there was no tomorrow.

Shaun Pollock, who is rated the number one ODI bowler in the world was hit for six by both Chando and Gayle, who hit him around like a ping pong ball, with disdain.

I disagree with my bloggionista who said that they let us down when they lost against England. I give my commentator the benefit of the doubt in that perhaps he was not aware that England were by then eliminated from the tournament, and are now in England sucking salt through the wooden spoon, as Motty would say.

Now, our team gets to play Australia in the final, who they actually beat in an earlier round.

Congrats to the West Indies, and come what may, they have already batted their way into the final, and for this they deserve credit.

I qualify what I have said in the past about the cynicism of some caribbean people (especially those from the country of my birth) about the Windies is not unique. The English are now becoming the same away about their team.. so that should be proof that such cynicism is misdirected, i.e. there is no need to follow the English slavishly.

Well, the Windies are tired of beating up India in ODI's now. And to top it all off, today bashing was done in India, before a crowd of screaming Indian fans.

Mind you, the Windies were a bit shaky at the end, and did not prevail until 3 balls before the end, when Marlon Samuels hit a strange looking four down to third man.

Lara was obviously still playing with his back injury, and was dismissed awkwardly with a very silly shot, and I think he was in pain and could do not better.

Windies are now through to the semis, even though they still have another match in this round, against the limies, oops, I am sorry, I mean England, on Sunday.

So, for all of you non-cricketing bloggionistas, enjoy your weekend, party hard, play hard, but play safely.

Weekend round up

NFL: Usual Sunday slate of games, I watched 2. I saw Dallas and Philly, and also pieces of Pittsburgh San Diego.

In that Philly game, all eyes were on T.O., now playing for Dallas and in that game playing against his former team.

Turned out the T.O.'s quarterback, veteran Drew Bledsoe, was not up to the task. He was intercepted, sacked, hit and hurried several times. The sharpshooter on the Philly team, however Donovan McNab, was on target. The most amazing play was the 102 yard interception TD return from one end zone to the another.

Cricket: I see where the Windies beat up on Zimbabwe - well, Zimbabwe must be used to it by now.

Trafigura Scandal in Jamaica:

Now, this is amazing. The government has gone ahead and accepted so called a "Donation" from a company with which it has a commercial agreement. And the ministers find this 100% acceptable, and had no intention of disclosing it.

And it took a disclosure which was probably illegal to expose it. And sympathisers of the government are focussing on the illegality of the disclosure, because, I assume, they thing that bank secrecy should protect illegitimate transactions. And the minister who was forced to resign had said that the funds were a donation when the donor said it was not. And the Chairman of the party originally said that the acceptance was perfectly acceptable and the allegations being made were spurious! And now, the prime minister has ordered the return of the funds.

The saga continues, because some folks allege that the opposition party was a party to breaches of the Banking Act, and would like their necks too! Somehow, I believe the opposition are happy to accept the risk of that, although they are probably confident that they did not act illegally.

I am sure you will see the news as it develops.

Man, that whole Mark Foley scandal really smells rotten.

And it is notable that the Republican party in the US has always held themselves out as being a paragon of virtue, and that all sickos resided within their opponents, the democrats.

And what about this foley sicko: Did he not need rehab until the whole thing blew up? I had 4 Heinekens last night. Does that qualify me for rehab? Did Foley suddenly become alcoholic, gay and a pedophile this week? Amazing.

In the last hour or so, I had 2 "children say the funniest things" moments.

I went to my son's school to catch the last half-hour of his weekly soccer.

As I approached, one of the kids said "its a throw in, you idiot!" quite loudly, and I thought, what a rude little !@$%%^...

Then, I came home and checked my email. Here is what I received:

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.
The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".
The teacher asked, " What if Jonah went to hell?"

Hope your weekend was enjoyable, and if not, here's wishing you a good week to come, whether you work, study, idle, or any combinations thereof.

Passed thru a bar operated by a friend of mine last night. He has reopened it for the first time since Hurricane Ivan. He was a seaman in his young days, and the bar is decked out (no pun intended) with maritime artifacts, including a propeller, a search light, a captains clock, a barometer, and other pieces of equipment that honestly, I need to ask him what those are.

The bar counter is made in the shape of the bow of a ship, and over the bottles of liquor is a replica of a bridge of a ship, trimmed with Caymanian made rope.

There is a pool (billiards) room, with 2 pool tables. There are several pieces of work in the bar to be complete, but I like it, and it is certainly off the 'trendy' circuit. This place is really a bar among bars. A couple of hispanic bombas working behind the bar as per the usual local routine. Having imbibed several Heinekens, I had a shot of 1800 tequila. It was nice.

After that stop, I went to a new restaurant opened by my clients. It is located in a shopping centre on Seven Mile Beach. On Friday, I attended a private luncheon (free, as well) put on by the owners to give the kitchen, the bar and the servers a trial run. Sitting with me there was the head chef at Cayman's brand new Margaritaville. He was the chef at Margaritaville Negril, before. He is new to Cayman, but is being well taken care of by several of my friends/clients.

Lastly, look at this humourous quote from Ja'can columnist and pollster Mark Wignall - I think its wonderful in terms of its humour, although serious in some of its implications.

The new government in Iraq aint kidding. The Associated Press' headline is that Iraq is assuming military control from the US led forces. Never mind the 27 detainees who are being executed having been convicted of various heinous offences, they are just a footnote.

Such is the insensitivity of war. The issue is about who is running Iraq. All else is secondary. God help them.

And having invaded Afghanistan, and Iraq, good old George is salivating at the thought of Iran.

I thought George Sr. was a warmonger. His son mek im look like Barbie Doll.

On a lighter note, isn't Tiger Woods something! 5 straight titles. And on the penultimate day, Vijay was sailing towards victory in the Deutche Bank Championship. Amazing. Read it here.

Against my better judgment, but in view of difficult times, I have been doing some court work lately. Hopefully this will be a temporary measure, while my other transactional work develops - Court aint pretty. And in the criminal court its the same old goons doing the same burglaries, drugs, violence, etc.

Some of my Bloggionistas from yard made mention of the yard born now turned English cleric, who was preaching a bunch of rhetoric in London which landed him in jail, and now he has been deported to Jamaica, having lived in London for 22 years. Here is the Gleaner article. Note the part about him encouraging the London bombers. Not nice at all. He will still be a muslim when he gets here, but one supposes that he won't have as much Governmental pro-American sentiment to preach about, as he would have in England.. I don't know, maybe he will have to preach about Chavez..

We have quite a few hundred Indians here - the majority from the Island of Goa, the majority working as chefs and security guards. A bit of rumours/scandal spreading about them at the moment, because their families pay huge sums to employment "agents" in India (more like loan sharks really), in default of which serious harm befalls either the relevant overseas worker or their families in India. This came to light following the attack of one of the guards whilst on duty here, and then his subsequent demise by a reported "suicide".

First World Cricket hypocrisy

When I am not in full focus on bodacious babes , I fancy a good game of cricket.

The NFL pre-season has started, but I have not yet watched a full game. Hopefully when the season begins in earnest I will be ready to go.

But, back to cricket, here is an article by Mikey Holding, for those of you who are cricket afficionados. Finally, someone has spoken up about the double standards employed by the 'cricketing establishment'.

Amazingly, I have not seen a single article or read a single report in which Darrel Hair, the Australian umpire in the middle of the controversy, sets out which Pakistani player tampered with the ball, and what are the particulars of such tampering. He really needs to quit, and I believe by his offer to do so (along with a payment) he has admitted wrongdoing. He must go, in my view.

It seems it is no coincidence that he was the same umpire who cited Murali in 1996 for throwing. Believe me, when England, in particular, see Murali grinning, they go dizzy with fright.

They can stand when Murali tears them apart with his spin, which is better than Shane Warne's, despite the stats.

Here, is another example of the snotty behaviour of the 'cricket establishment'. Australia has asked for the umpires at the Ashes to be local. Seems to me they want no Asians or West Indians - What do you think?

Look at cricketing in South Africa, Australia & New Zealand. The instances of indigenous persons playing for those nations have been few. This is not purely because their previous colonisers introduced the game.

Do you think it was a coincidence that Ntini, the first Black African to play for South Africa, was wrongfully convicted, then acquitted of rape?

Amazing, the amount of 'politics' in cricket. One could go on for ages.

Firstly, for those of you who were taken aback by the photograph displayed on my last post, I come before you with a contrite heart, having properly recognised the error of my ways. In order to make amends, I have instead posted another hi5 bomba with a view to my rehabilitation to your good books, or as I heard a pompous lawyer say recently, hopefully this will return me to "good stead".

I stole on this occasion those words in quotes (above) from an email between me and a few of my former colleagues in this here much vaunted legal profession.

One of those dear counsel was saying that "at my firm salary reviews are imminent, and all are waiting in anticipation of a windfall. In a forthcoming issue of Legal Global (I have used a fictitious publication name to protect the guilty) I have been featured, which should stand me in good stead (for promotion).

Since I left the law firm world, I had begun to forget how pretentious and silly that whole world is. And to think I once worked in such environs. If I go back to work at a large law firm, please feel free to shoot me - because if you don't, you surely will when I start using self serving, flowery language like "stand me in good stead".

To close, please contemplate the assets of this young bomba featured above. Please attempt to complete the review of the text of this post prior to fixating on the bad gyal.

Folks, my last post, as you can see was very brief. (Please complete the reading of this post, if you can, before fixating on the animal shown at left). As I type this one, each word is being thought out. God only knows what to say these days. This one will only be a quickie as well. What can I say, a quickie is better than none (not with the lady shown of course, more time and energy would be appropriate for that).

I see where some poor 60 year old lady caused United Airlines to make an unscheduled stop, and Uncle Sam pulled no punches, locked the lady up, escorted the plane down with F-16 fighters, deplaned all pasajeros, put all luggage on the ramp, bomb sniffing dogs, and the Lord only knows what else. Have mercy.

Call it old age, call it what you may, but I am now getting into my gardening, folks. Feel free to reserve my spot in the nursing home, or at least order some drugs for senility.

Lastly, in case you missed her, please feast your eyes on the hottie I saw on hi5 earlier today. All things bright and beautiful, the Lord God made them all.

Billions will watch with anticipation on Sunday, as football Giants France and Italy battle for the World Cup.

In my predictions during Germany '06, I was was wrong on Argentina vs. Germany, and on Brazil v France.

Should I stick my neck out one more time. Hell yes. Nothing to lose, not even ego.

France, I think will relieve the Chianti warriors from any bother of taking that cup back to Rome, or Milan or wherever they were thinking of.

Lets see if that is right.

I was unhappy to see Brazil depart yesterday, although I have always knows that Henry was dangerous, in fact I was saying that in the days before the match.

I am however elated with England's departure, whoever it is that was heroic enough to remove them, Portugal's penalties in this instance.

Looking forward to the Semi's - tell me, who do you like? Dr. D likes Germany, I know that already. They have to play Italy, I think, and Portugal vs. France - who do you like.

I know who I like, and that is Italy, but they were unable to beat USA who only had 9 men!

I would say its either Germany or France who will lift that ugly looking but much coveted cup.

Cricket:

West Indies just completed the Indian tour of the Caribbean.

West Indies won the ODI's convincingly, 4-1. Today, India won the test series by winning the only match with a result, 1-0.

This tour by India was an opportunity for those who had time to see that Windies are on the rise again, and like a Phoenix, they will rise from.. well you know the rest.

Denesh Ramdin batted a monster of an innings to day, and the WI were all out, 49 short of the requirement. Anyway, the Windies will not be playing for a while now, so my cricketing content will be reduced, much to the relief of my non-cricketing bloggionistas.

My boys are both fine now, just finishing off the medication. No swimming allowed for them in the mean time - hopefully they can swim next week - they are now on summer holidays and need activities designed to tire them into long bouts of peacecul slumber.

Now it will be time to get back to school shoes, backpacks, lunchkits, socks, and the Lord only knows what else. They are more high maintenance than me. All I need are a few beers an cigars and I am good.

World Cup, cricket, etc

I assume that those of you with all your faculties in place have been watching World Cup Football.

That Brazil game this morning was nice, I believe Brazil will be in the final, which I believe is early in July. Ghana has a lot to be proud of, nonetheless.

On cricket, well, the Windies are still fighting on, having mustered a 3rd draw in this test series. At least they were not losses, which they have done a lot for about 10 years now.

A bit stressed as my 3 year old is in hospital since Sunday with 2 enlarged tonsils, with fever going up to 103 on 2 occasions. I hope he will come home tonight - the Dr. hinted that may be the case if his fever is controlled today.

Well - I am off to watch the game with Spain and France - bets anyone? I would say Spain.

Those 2 draws that the Windies managed, the 2nd one with the help of the rain, showed that we have a long way to being truly comfortable with our cricket.

No fast bowling to speak of - and the selectors, Captain Lara has been told, are not interested in helping. I hate to say it, but I do believe the WICB and the selectors are incompetent, and they need to realise that.

Why, for example, was Dave Mohammed taken out? Now there is no genuine spin. That is why India is able to declare at 588. We are deep into this Indian tour, and our selectors are just as much our opponent as is India. We have no bowling.

While we are building up our batting, we need bowlers to get the other team out.
Collymore and Bradshaw are good, but not good enough to rip apart India.

The batting of Kaif, Dravid, Sehwag, Yuvrag, Dhoni, are just too much for Collins alone, and Edwards when he recovers. Suppose Tendulkar had come? I see that Andy Roberts has criticised Collins' return - I suppose he would have gone to Lawson or Best instead- who are above 90mph rippers. Collins did however get 4 wickets in 1 innings, and no one else got any wickets to speak of.

If you look at ICC you will see that we have no one in the top 10 bowlers for Test. Perhaps someone should print this and hand this to the selectors who probably hate the internet or something.

I don't think we will get over our present doldrums until all of the cricket personalities who are not moving in stride with the rest of the cricketing world are removed and put to pasture. I know this is harsh but this is West Indies Cricket they are toying with. Come on fellas time to cook or get out the kitchen.

Small note on Germany 2006: I was upset at T&T's loss this morning, although I am admittedly predisposed against England in whatever sport they play, and also in their hijacking of the legal profession in my little rock that I call home. And to think that the Soca Warriors held them until the 82nd minute, and then allowed the 2nd goal in injury time!

Sorry T& T - congrats - whoever stands up to the scourge you played against this morning deserve KUDOS.

Folks,

I had to attend a meeting and missed most of the session after tea on the 5th day of the Test, however we have escaped from the Jaws of Jonah's whale, after India pulled off a magnigicent recovery in the second innings, and in our 2nd innings all 11 West Indians had to bat, including 2 of our pace bowlers who had to face 19 balls and survive, and produce one thriller of a draw.

Sorry I had to miss the end of it, but there you go.

For those of you awaiting the bandwagon, we may not need you, since when we return to our glory most of our fan base will be international - however you will still be welcome, though there are late fees involved -

Onto the next test, the Shaq and Heat and the Dirk and the Mavs, and of course the World Cup.

I was thinking of putting a TV into my office for the Cup, but with the 2nd test on Saturday, I might need 2 - but Mrs. RI ain't having any of that nonsense.

Anyway it has been raining here every day - the season is here folks. I wont use the "H" word - but folks, please get ready, you know how it works.

Folks, for the time being, as you will have seen, this website has turned into a West Indies Cricket blog. I love cricket, folks, and not only Windies cricket at that.

This is an article which shows what doldrums WI cricket fans are in. The Windies have struggled for such a hard time, that the fans have turned into "jilted brides". Yes, even I have found it difficult to watch at times, but I have always and will always love cricket. Now, the writer of this Gleaner article swears that it will take a while for WI to win back his heartstrings. And, somehow, I suspect the greatest skepticism of our team has bred in Jamaica. Am I right folks? Hope not. Tell me it ain't so.

I was sitting some exams in England in 1999 when Murali and the rest of the Sri Lankans were taking England apart limb by limb down at the oval, at a time when I couldn't attend a match because of exams.

Mind you, the previous year, at a weekend in the middle of exams, I did attend Notting Hill carnival, so maybe carnival is less stressful, I don't know. Who knows where priorities lie from year to year.

Last night, I attended, lets call it a card game, in an air conditioned car garage in one of our more upmarket neighbourhoods, all men, lots of egos, lots of pizza, beer, rum, wine and cussin. It was
nice, I was invited by my new clients, who, as it turned out, did not have a great night of cards. I decided against lighting one of the puros which I had in my pocket - I had just met the host.

Lovers of the NBA, who do you like, Miami? Detroit? Dallas? Tell me. I like a lot of sports, you know, even those outside the region and across the pond.

One more thing. Now you know Katie Couric has always caught most folks' attention on TV. But, can someone please provide a detailed explanation as to why she earns 15 million per year? Not a dismissive, one word answer, like "ratings" or whatever. A reasoned, answer please? I would just like to understand.

4-1. Great Start Windies - now time for real cricket.

For all who have chosen to close their eyes, the West Indies have won the ODI series against India, 4-1. The 5th game was horrible for India, as they were in the 25th over coasting towards victory, however they went into a terrible collapse, from which they never recovered, despite another masterful 90 odd from Sehwag, a dangerous batsman by any standard.

I did not expect the Windies to bowl their way into that 5th game at all - especially with Collymore out with a twisted ankle, and us depending on Taylor, Mohammed, Bravo, et al.

Lara made 38 in his farewell performance at Queens Park Oval, Dave Mohamed made a gem of a run out fielding his own bowling, and Dhoni, another Indian danger man, was out at 16.

Everyone hopes for the best for the test series. Chanderpaul hopes to recover from injury to play at St. John's Recreational Ground for the first match this coming Friday. Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out of the series with his injury.

Laxman will be batting for India, not having played in the ODI's.

Folks the team now has the best lineup for several years and an improvement in their record is on the way. I think it is reasonable to say that, without going too far. If they continue the fielding they did in the last 4 ODI's, then they will be OK. The WI's fielding in the 1st ODI in Jamaica was atrocious. That has got to be put behind them.

Congrats to captain Lara, and on to the test.

Sarwan 115 not out! West Indies Cricket fan wannabes wake up!

Well the series is not yet finished, but for those of you in self-induced oblivion, the Windies soundly defeated India by 4 wickets today in the 3rd ODI held in in St. Christopher (AKA St. Kitts).

The Windies waited until the last over to seal the deal, in fact they waited until the penultimate ball, however, the victory, or a close finish anyway, was in sight (but not secured) from around the 35th over.

This is such an important matter that I am not waiting until the end of American Idol to finish typing it. I barely even saw what happened on AI. I saw one ridiculous pink jacket - Taylor should lose just for that to rass - but I believe he is a better singer than Katherine, whereas Katherine has a better stage presence. Someone please blog about it because me deh pan cricket right now.

Many of you that commented did not think the the West Indies could have won any games against India, but now they have won 2. I believe West Indies will win this series. (I won't go as far as Ja'can PM Simpson Miller and claim the Windies are appointed by God, but I am confident anyway. Neither will I say that all cricket fans must follow them, etc.)

There is a commentator called Jeremy Coney (former kiwi batsman). What a moron. From beginning to end, he has been hating us. He even once referred to India and said "we need to get more wickets".. he was totally missing from the closing ceremony and summary. Once, when we were about 17 runs from winning, he said "I hate to say this to WI fans, but I have seen the WI lose from this position before". The croud at Basseterre should have heard him (but they had no time for that, they were busy whining) and trampled him to rass, or at least knocked over his cup of tea and doused him with some Carib.

The replay showed that Umpire Rauf's LBW decision to end Shiv's innings at 58 was wrong. But, umpires have to look at things from the other end, in real time. My view, all LBW's should be referred to the 3rd umpire. So, just when either Jeff Dujon or one of the commentators was saying that this ump had a good day at the office, well, if we had lost, Rauf could have been responsible.

Again, I was sorry to see Lara and Morton fail with the bat -

On to Trinidad - watch it with me, folks, I believe we are looking good for this ODI series.

Instead of messing with our captain, try out today's vital error by Rahul Dravid (that's the Indian captain for those of you who prefer styroid driven "sports") messed up.

With more than 5 overs to go, he exausted the 10 over allocations of bowling by Powar and Harbajan (aka the Turbanator). Then, to the delight of Sarwan, Chanderpaul and others, he but back in a pace attack which I believe is worse than the Zimbabwe pace bowlers. (Do you remember Reon King, Merv Dillon and others who came in after Walsh and Ambrose? Well Dillon and King are better than India's fast bowlers.)

Then, Ramnaresh, the latest West Indian institution, blasted a huge century. He got 100 on his 100th ODI. And don't forget this, during a very threatening innings by India, Rammy also got a wicket bowled. I'd never seen him bowl before.. I was in paradise.

All bandwagonnists will be warmly welcomed, even you dissapear into the shadows if we don't do well at next years much vaunted World Cup.

NBA is on as well folks, well, I will watch some now until the disco at Bedrock calls..

If all else fails, Windies cricket will add to your stress

Folks

I hope you watched Saturday's thriller when the Windies beat India by one run. The margin does not matter, a win is a win.

I do not agree with some of my bloggionistas who have commented that the team is "piss poor". Such an assessment is unfair, if not unforensic.

Congrats to captain Lara and man of the match Ramnaresh Sarwan for an unbeaten ninety something. However it was dissapointing to see Chanderpaul, Lara, Gayle, Morton, Baugh and everyone else fail with the bat. Look forward to Tuesday in St. Kitts.

The Indian coach, Gregg Chappell, and indeed their captain, Rahul Dravid, have both commented that the Windies team has excellent players. Chappell says that the Windies have simply forgotten how to win. I believe that is true, however I also sense the beginning of a rebuild, and let it be known to all of you doubting Thomas bloggionistas, I will be there until it happens. I will not jump on the bandwagon when the time comes. But you all will be welcome to do so at that time.

Edwards, Taylor, Bradshaw, Gayle, Samuels - between those four, any batting attack has to be cautious. Our bowling strength is in pace, whereas India's bowling strength is spin. Harbajan (aka the Turbanator) can really deceive with that slow bowling.

Dorna had a nice post today with a bungling robber joke. Surf through that blog and you will see things less stressful than West Indies cricket. Yet, me and millions of dedicated fans continue steadfastly to be the advocates for the Windies. One day, I will have the last laugh. I am not that old, I will be alive.

"Loves?" Well, this is the bloggosphere, so anything goes. Let down your inhibitions, and then the comments may come like bangarang.

It is not only that Zimbabwe is weak, folks. They have some good players. Inexperienced, yes, but they are not to be scoffed at, even if they were beaten by the UWI Chancellor's IX.

It is that we are improving. I cannot and will not stop harping about Runako Morton. He will excel against India. Look at the debut by Dave Mohammed. We now have strong cricketers. The numbskulls on the WICB won't hold them back forever.

And Jerome Taylor, what do you think folks.

I am just here noting a quick post on a Friday afternoon. I just absorbed, I mean drank a beer in several seconds. See Runako Morton, trust me, he will spend the next few days getting ready for India. India, no doubt, are ranked number 3 by the ICC and are not coming here to mess about. All the best Windies.

Hey folks... I had told you how Jerome Taylor was part of our future in good cricket, and also I told you how Runako Morton was a force to be reckoned with.

It matters not what these morons are writing on www.cricinfo.com. They criticised the Windies bitterly after the 2 wins last weekend. They almost crucified Tina Best for his wayward bowling yesterday (they gave him no credit for the wicket he did get) .. folks I am done with that website as I believe their writers are pre-disposed against us.

Folks, it seems that since I started working on my own my bloggage has slowed. My mind cannot focus on bloggage material. Anyway, I am back.. blog again hopefully sooner rather than later.

Cricket, lovely West Indies Cricket. Do you know its amazing, I asked everyone to rally round the Windies, and they still got a couple of boos.

Its amazing. This pastes a grim picture of the future for Chando.

Regardless of anything, it is not the way to improve our cricket, I am insisting. Somewhere deep inside all our troubles, is a European (at Digicel, maybe?) who is orchestrating a "divide an conquer" policy against the Windies. And we are too blind to see it.

My parents were in a car crash yesterday. Some young idiot was overtaking a line of cars coming from the West Bay direction down the new Esterley Tibbetts highway. My parents were going in the other direction. The guy, driving a Ford Escape SUV, hit my parents into a deep ditch. Some tourist ended up pulling my parents out, as they were afraid the car was going to sink into some water which was behind the car.

My mother remains in hospital with a badly bruised shin, a nasty cut on her hand with stitches, and some chest and back pains. I expect her out like tomorrow or Wednesday 12th.

Interestingly, my parents were driving a Mazda Tribute SUV which is actually the same vehicle as the Ford Escape, with slighly different trim etc, and different branding. I went to the Traffic Dept today and saw them both. Both are rightoffs, I would say, especially the Escape.

Cricket remedy

West Indies Fans, I write to enlist your support for captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul. This man needs our unqualified support in that role as a critical element to his success. Without such support he will (continue to) suffer.

All the other test captains are given constant publicity. This is no accident. This is crucial and important. "Rally round the West Indies" is not just a great soca song, it is a very necessary and essential tool for West Indian cricketing success.

"Good vibes" is necessary and required. And this man needs to feel it from us. Sure, at the crease he stands up like a hermit crab, or a soldier crab as they are called in these beautiful islands that I call my home. Sometimes his bat is actually facing backward, but anyway, this man is accomplished, so let them talk.. this man is a serious cricketer, make no mistake about it.

No one should say that they are awaiting his replacement. No one should be singing Rock of Ages to his captaincy. Leave that to the WICB and the management of the team, in their seemingly infinite wisdom.

Zimbabwe is coming to the Islands to play us, remember folks, please turn on the cricket, attend a match, send an email, comment on a cricket blog, even watch the results on the sports news, whatever you do.. remember to rally round the West Indies.

A closer examination of West Indies cricket will reveal to those of us with a discerning eye (or at least those of us who are semi-conscious, like me) that West Indies cricket, despite the dismal results, is on the mend, I tell you.. watch Runako Morton, for example. There is a weapon to be reckoned with. Runako can stand up to the best in the world. You can see it for yourself, you need not take my word.

Support of our captain is of course only one of several important elements to his success and the success of the team itself. Shiv, the board, the team, and the management are more than capable of taking care of the rest. Support, good vibes, and good wishes are what you and I can do.

Have you ever noticed something? People will still write down numbers in their hands even though they can enter it into the phone? And it never gets into the phone, even if written on a piece of paper.

How about those who are pigging out on pizza, chinese food, junk food, etc, and then drinking a diet coke?

How about those using nutrament or slim fast drink as a beverage to have with a meal?

I saw Trouble twice this week at Cafe Del Sol/. I also saw his friend, known only the bloggosphere as "Wayne". Nice, this somewhat anonymous world of bloggage.

I tell you what, a couple of bombas usually pass through the Cafe Del Sol.

Well, folks - did you see any of that test match that was played by Shando and crew?

Lara - 5 and ducks? Next Match, Brian. Time to kick some kiwi ass.

Despite the results of this first test and also the 4-1 defeat in the ODI's, I do believe the Windies are on the mend.

Fidel Edwards, Jerome Taylor and Dwayne r Bravo have brought back some bowling that we prefer to see, in improvement to some of their predecessors that came after Walsh and Ambrose.

Ganga, a batsman that gave me the cusses when he first came to the team, has found his nick in a big way, and of course Chris Gayle, have both begun to bring back to the Windies what true openers are supposed to to do, although they have a ways to get back to the opening stands of Haynes and Marshall when I was a teenager.

I would say watch out for the second test. Sleep in the day, if you are in the Western Hemisphere. That includes you Abeni.

Lastly, congrats to Shane Bond. Anyone who can get Lara out on the first ball is truly a world class bowler.

Tuesday night Bloggage

I returned from Jam Rock after a relaxing weekend, to return to a week which has begun with a flurry at work. Anyway, that is not a complaint by any means.

I saw Dep. Comm. Mark Shields hanging out at the Hilton as well.

I did meet Doc. D for the 1st time live and in person, and he lived up to the sociable image he portrays on line. We had a couple of drinks at the Hilton Kingston, which is a very pleasant and relaxing spot where I stayed for the weekend. He was on call, and therefore he declined the tequila shots. He brought along one of his bredrin as well, a very cool brother.

I also attended by cousin's wedding and acted as a groomsman, which was quite an experience. The wedding was at the UWI chapel, which is an architectural wonder in itself. The Saturday of the wedding was an extremely long day, in that I left the jacuzzi at the Hilton at 2pm to get ready meet the groom at his room at 3 p.m., and the entire wedding and reception was finished at around 11 pm. Needless to say, I collapsed in my bed until about 9am Sunday morning. The reception was at the Les Ambassaduers, 18th Floor, Hilton. That was good fun as well.

During the wedding one of the bridesmaids, a doctor, went outside, vomited and fainted, and then returned to the lineup. Also, the wedding started without the bridesmaids, because at 3:45, 15 minutes before the start time, they were in Portmore, picking up their dresses, then one came wearing a different dress because hers did not fit. She and all the other bridesmaids had chosen not to collect the dresses or attend fittings prior to the wedding day.

Other than the above, the wedding was a nice affair. I will post pics of the wedding in my next post.

Doc, thanks for showing up, and next time, in your words, we will "rope een" some other bloggionistas from Jam Rock, including maybe his Bullness. Having some delays getting the pics on... but lets see what happens. Yes, it finally uploaded.. shown above are me and the Doc.. Doc.. thanks again.

I received the following Jamaican political satire, labelled the Peter Phillips PhD manifesto. It is based on Dr. Phillips' since abandoned Rastafarianism:

Windies get an irish shrink? Is that so?

Now, I know that the termn"shrink" is not medically precise, however, I heard today that the Windies have taken on an Irish sports psychologist who was previously the psychologist for Ice Hockey teams!. Amazing. I suppose all the test nations must have them. And anything would help right now. Poor Windies. I suppose some might think it strange with an Irish sponsor (Digicel) and now an Irish mind twista?

And how in the world did BC Lara (and others) get excluded from the game by the WICB against the kiwis because of his C&W deals, again? What the hell is going on? We really look foolish, you know. Our cricketing cockups really need to end. Its not like Digicel is giving the players any amount of money which would be an incentive for them to be exclusive to Digicel. Lara likes Carnival, I know, but come on guys, lets get real for goodness sake. These disputes seem relatively easy to compromise.

And can you imagine the discussions between our players and this shrink? It would be like

Shiv: Ein feelin too hot today, leh we have a lime nuh?

Not feeling very revolutionary..

Folks

It is a quiet Monday Morning. I went to East end on Saturday all day, helping my in-laws with the preparation of their house for my father in law's return home from hospital. All of Sunday I was tyad, to rass. My back was feelin it.

We assembled a hospital bed, removed a bed which was about 50 years old and HEAVY. It was on a wooden base which was not moved after Ivan, and when it was removed, there was a perfect, square shaped mixture of mud and sand from Ivan, that bastard.

By the way, my caribbean and Florida bloggers, do you realise we are less than 16 weeks away from hurricane season. Especially for those in Cayman, are you really ready? How many things did you wish you had on September 13th, 2004? Do you have a generator yet? How about a portable water tank, with say 2000 gals capacity? How about all of the car phone chargers, extension cords, batteries etc. The list goes on and on, and the US based recommendation of having food and water for 3-7 days went out the window completely - that was not near enough in Cayman.

How about gasoline containers? Do you have those? How about travel documents out of here, including visas to the US (in our case we would need to go to Jam for that).

Is it too early to start talk about hurricanes? The guys who were fixing my roof tiles, they worked for about 3 days in November, then came back last week and finished it. Such is the nature of those rude boys. They will booming for many more years.

Folks

For those of you who were just saying "good riddance" or who had uttered a quick eulogy, its not that I was about to quit bloggiology, just yet.

Its just that I had nothing to say. To be honest, I am still a bit blank.

But my previous post does reflect a side of bloggism that I would like to explore.

This weekend I've got the usual T-ball (that's the kiddie version of softball for those who feel obliged to think they are averse to American Sports hehe...) .. The baseball facility here in Cayman is called the Field of Dreams - I believe it is the most impressive sports facility in the Cayman Islands. I have just begun to help with the coaching of my son's team, Subway, and at this age group, there is no need to know a lot about the game, luckily for me.

I saw this article about Maxi Priest training with a local Football team recently. In fact I believe he performed here recently along with Freddy McGreggor. Along with Mad Bull, I also missed that show. When you work in Cayman, things can pass you by quite easily, because one is usually trying to keep one's proverbial head above water, work wise.

I am headed up to West Bay this morning to see a house being constructed by some friends - I am dedicating a certain amount of time to hitting the road to make people aware of my practice. Let's see how that goes.

Folks

Well, what a Monday that was. From one thing to the other. And, our housekeeper was sick both Saturday and today, so as of 215 I was Mr. Mom.

My beloved 6 y.o. (pictured at right) had asked me not to come into the school ground, but to collect him at the gate, where I waited in vain for about 15 minutes, then I went inside to find the little fella, who said, "I forgot, Dad". What else could I say?

I met some website advertising folks today about a listing for me on their website, and now they want me to do some work for them also, so I am keeping busy.

I saw a guy using the Palm Treo 650, and I asked him about it, and he was convinced that it was beyond question the best communications device overall. The Palm Treo 700 is out, with a narrower body, and with a Windows platform, but C&W (where I have some points to credit towards the rather hefty puchase) only sells the 650 at the moment. My work emails are not that hectic at the moment, however I am already at the stage where my scheduling and tasks are quite active, and throughout my daily "out and about" I meet several people who I take their contact details from, so that I can market my practice, so the Treo is on my wish list, for email, contacts, and schedule (not so much the web, although the 650 I saw today, which was connected to Digicel, was muy rapido to rass, the guy opened up satellite weather maps, and it was amazing.

Anyway, I was trying to upload some pics of my boys, so hopefully it works. These are some pics of them on scooters that the got at Christmas. They are still scooting, too.

Well, I see that my good bloggionista, Doctor D has lamented the lack of a post-game Super Bowl "report" from me, whilst still repeatedly pointing out he does not give a shyte about the game. I suppose he wants the report so that he can then say he does not give a shyte... or is a love for the American game lurking within him.. ?

I can say this.. Dr. D.. it is not fortuitous for one person (i.e. you) to watch the game in 3 locations. I am suggesting there is an affinity which you need to release!

I will stop now. Just kidding, Doc.

I will comment on the game briefly. The team I was rooting for won. There were a few strange referee calls, which will cast a bit of a cloud, but it does not matter, the Steelers won. Sad to lose Jerome Bettis , to well deserved retirement but after a 14 year career, he deserves it. I heard that the Seahawks may lose Shaun Alexander, that would be sad as well, but such is the nature of professional sports. 6 Million per year is not hype.

Folks, this is a quickie (would that it were a real quickie) I will post again tomorrow I hope, but no promises.

Blogadies and Blogentlemen:

I was so happy that Mad Bull came to my aid with these problems I was having with the PC's in my home office.

Firstly, he made sure my wireless network was not open for all and sundry to plunder, and before he did that, he talked me on the phone through the process of ensuring that my email signature was appearing when it should - rather simple but still above my hard head.

We still cannot see the tool bar for blogger on the laptop - but like I told him, I am soon going to get rid of it. I do not recommend the Sony Vaio folks.

Whilst Mad Bull busily worked away at my network, MBJr. played with my 2 boys. They seemed like they were having a good time, and MB Jr was a little reluctant to leave.

Super Bowl Sunday is coming up folks - watch out for the Steelers - All who do not like the game, at least watch the half time show. There will be no more pierced nipple incidents, I am sure. Damn.

Kami - here is another quarterback for you, he made my favorite, Peyton Manning, look like a schoolboy a few weeks back. His name is Ben Roethlisberger. Watch him throw some bullets this coming Sunday. This is not just any given Sunday, it is Super Bowl Sunday.

It's the laptop, stupid

I had thought that Blogger was acting up, but as soon as I logged into my Dell desktop, I was able to see the toolbar which allows you to post pictures, edit html, format, fonts, etc. right away.
And I had complained to my IT gorgon, Mad Bull, that from my laptop I was unable to see the graphics (in every sense of that word) on his site, as well as that of Dr. D.

It turns out that it has something to do with the laptop, and that now I shall have to blog from the desktop that is in my office.

Oh, well, I am the boss now, so I shall blog from my desk with reckless abandon and blatant disregard.

But I have a couple of jokes on my email which are on the laptop so I will have to log into that stupid laptop (note, a PC is only as stupid as its user) to cut and paste those 2 little jokies. Naaah! too much chubble, Wait till the next post, to bludcleat.

Seems I may be in Jamaica on the 3rd March for a wedding, so I believe I will try to arrange a small blogger linkup, mixed in with a few non-bloggionistas.

Boy, this freeness ting, it can backfire from time to time. The tool bar in Blogger is missing now, so that I can post pictures, etc.

I don't know what I have done wrong. And when I installed Blogger for Word it would disappear from Word overnight.

Domino lingo

Notice, for those who live to tediously dissect grammar, that "domino" was not pluralised in the title. So love it or leave it, is all I can say.

Quiet long weekend for me here in paradise. I played 2 person dominos on the patio with my son today. I enjoyed using the South Sound domino lingo used by my friends.. it like this -

"S!" (short for one, or Ace)

"tree in yuh pee pee" (three)

"Four"

"Feva docta patient low" (Five)

"Sex" or "Sexual healing" (six) - ok I did not teach my son that one.

Every time I wanted him to pass I said "Enter the Dragon" or "Enjoy the Buffet" until he got tired of me and complained, and I had to shut up.

But, this afternoon, like lady justice, wifey returned the "favour" I did when I went out last Friday by taking him out and leaving me with my sleeping 2 year old, so I decided to do this post.

I am still hoping for an ace up the sleeve, I think I will play the music loudly so he will "accidentally" wake up, then I will drop him to the park, where she is with my six year old, her sister and my nephew, Boogie.

Or, maybe not, perhaps I will lay low and wait..

There is hardly any time to sleep - one has to make time for incidental matters such as sleep, given all the tasks that I have conjured up as being more important. Now, of course, there are a few important exceptions.... and blogging did not make the cut, unfortunately

I heard a broadcast of Jamaica's outgoing Governor making a speech this week at the National Prayer Breakfast. As a man of ninety-odd years, this man sounded very well, and he delivered his speech in a very inspirational way, and at one point he even said "Say Amen everybody".

Folks, along with a Member of Parliament, I went to Buttonwood Club last night. I had not visited that place in about 20 years. Basically a bar with all latina bombas as bartenders and waitresses. I left early, because I had passed through my usual haunt before that, the Office Lounge.

Nice time, 2 conference NFL championships tomorrow - seems a bit wide open, no one seems to be the clear favourite, since the 2 favourites, the Colts and the Patriots, were actually eliminated before. Are you ready for some football!

Now, can you imagine... I was looking forward to my NFL favorites, the Indianapolis Colts, making it to the Super Bowl. But it was not to be. They were today eliminated by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Top rated quarterback, Peyton Manning, simply did not deliver until the Colts' late surge in the 4th Quarter, when their grave was already dug.

And early in the game, especially the 4th quarter, 23 year old Ben Roethlisberger was throwing some missile-like passes and exposed some gaping holes in the Colts defense. As one of the CBS commentators said, he came to give an exposition on how to throw the football.

Anyway, I am still in good spirits, because the New England Patriots, the Super Bowl champs for the last 2 years were eliminated yesterday by Denver. That part of my wish list was satisfied, albeit one week late, because Jacksonville should have dealt with it from last Saturday.

On Friday 13th, my last day with my previous employer, I went out for several happy hours - it was also the last day for 2 of my colleagues, and the birthday of one of my colleagues.

Now, the first stop was a favourite of Trouble's for greasy English breakfast i.e. the Triple Crown Pub. It was ok I guess - as our group was quite large (and more Caribbean oriented) I did notice a few raised eyebrows from the mainly British regulars. I was enjoying their looks, and we stayed for a couple of hours, despite their oddity.

We then went to Senor Frogs. Now that was something. The birthday boy, lets call him Khalid, who despite his protests, and with the aid of his work colleagues, joined the MC on the stage, who proceeded to pour about a gallon of blue liquid, something looking like Hypnotiq, but I think it was something else, down his throat, as he laid on a fallen barstool. Lots of it spilled onto him and the floor, but lots of it obviously made its way to his brain, as later on he was completely sloshed. He emerged escorted from the restroom by his colleagues, where I assume he was worshipping the porcelain goddess and bestowing her with gooey gifts.

Then, a (nicely proportioned) female colleague and him fell flat on the floor with her face to face with him underneath, tables turned over and so on.

Then, last night, at Corner Pocket ( you have probably heard of that place before) there was a 40th birthday party for one of my former colleagues. That was nice, they gave us 2 tickets for drinks with the invite, but then they gave out more later, so it was a nice night, a DJ was playing some pretty good tunes.

This afternoon, I watched the Colts debacle, then I caught up with my boys who were attending a poolside birthday party for a class mate of my older son (6 year olds).

So it was an active weekend for my aging bones, on top of all this preparation I am doing for my new solo legal practice. I have a hectic schedule of errands for tomorrow, so hopefully I will get some work done tomorrow, to pay for this weekends fun..

Also, my messing about with cricket is supposed to start with the first nets session tomorrow, where I will be playing for the team which goes by the name of my soon to be former employer. No nets for me tomorrow, because tomorrow is my last day ever working for other people. What a day! Puros haffe bun.

I have been enjoying downloading music from Limewire, some great music there - I have downloaded about 10 hours of music, so far. God help my hard drive.

Bloggage is at an all time low. I think I am overwhelmed. I am in my last week at my job so I think I am either depressed or exhilarated to the point of speechlessness.

I am glad I shot this one out before I was, lets say, invited so to do by some of my usual commentators, whose commentary I appreciate.

My father in law is still at the hospital, having been there from 28 November with a stroke. He is being released possibly this week, either to someone's house (maybe mine) or a nursing home.

Between the death of his wife in September (which is when I started this Blogging nonsense) and his illness, it seems I have spent the last several months in and out of the hospital.

This article by Tamara Scott Williams is interesting. Did any of my Caribbean crew come across any haughty Caribbean visitors during the holiday period (returning home for Christmas and blingin it up?)? I have seen some here, but its less conspicuous, for various reasons. I will do my best to maintain my "social graces and deportment" to steal the words of the Observer's article.

Mind you, I would be the last one to have wanted to miss that hilarious account on today's post by the Doc. Nothing like some cowitch to get in the way of some lovin..

So, on the other had, regular updates on your double dates (and single ones too) would probably be better than the politricks.

Damian Marley will be here this weekend - not sure if I will make that one, but maybe The Bull will - I will get a report from him or someone else, I am sure.

At least everyone was itching and not just one person.

Folks, have a super new year.

On new years eve, I had a whale of a time. At home, we did the usual fireworks with the boys, drank some bubbly, I had a(nother) puro, then when all were asleep, I went to a couple of small parties.

At midnight, fireworks lit up the sky for miles, continuously for over 1 hour. After that they continued, though intermittently.

One party in Prospect was just about finishing, and I had some food, then I went to West Bay, which was hosted by some Bajans, mainly. Both parties featured police officers having a good time bringing in the new year. The police just waved me through the DWI roadblock at Kings Sports Centre, and at about 3am, lots of folks were partying on the beach and lighting fireworks at the public beach.

On the way home, folks were jogging and walking, etc., starting the new year out on a healthy note. Yesterday, I slept a little, and its back to work (for my last 2 weeks tomorrow).

Hoping for some boating today, though its looking a bit overcast.. so blog you all later.

Just relaxing at home tonight, watching the 36 hour 007 marathon on Spike Tv.

Just had a Glenlivet 18 y.o. scotch and a Partagas cigar. This is the particular puro that I had tonight. It is a 30 minute smoke which leaves you feeling irier than any spliff, I can guarantee you.

Looking forward to New Years eve, going to light some fireworks for the boys, have another puro, and have some bubbly. I got a bottle of Don Perignon from one of my clients. Then, one of the ladies at work is having a party at her house, so I will pass thru in the wee hours of New Years day. At least that's the plan. Hopefully it actually materialises.

After Christmas peace

Folks, I hope all of you had a joyous Christmas. I did. I've been to a few parties here and there, and last night I visited some friends only to find that they were downing lots of bubbly. A cooler in the kitchen contained about 9 bottles of Veuve Cliquot, and I stayed for a few hours.

This morning, needless to say, there are a few bubbles in my system, however bubbles have limited lifespan, and will get expelled one way or the other.

On a somber note, I thought I should take a moment to pay tribute to the life of Oksana Douglas. Her photo from the Jamaica Observer is shown here. Read the article here.

The shooters apparently were shooting at a group of adults in the same location where she was, by a shop. It did not matter to them about the presence of this beautiful 7 year old child. Or, to pop some legalese, they must have been reckless as to the possibility that innocent bystanders might have been there. She must have been "collateral damage". Rest in Peace Oksana.

I've been downloading some music from Limewire, its pretty good, and downloaded a lot of music in the last couple of days. I will see how my hard drive holds up. Mad Bull may have to rescue me from whatever havoc I have done with the notebook.

On an event which is significant for me, I resigned from employment. My last day will be Friday 13th (Rass) January, 2006. I will let you know what I am doing in the middle of January. I am looking forward to an exciting 2006.

Christmas time again

I am spending 3 days at home with my boys. My father did me a great service today by taking the older of the 2 with him.

I was out last night to a few of the shops that opened late - Caymania was open until 9pm, and I was able to get something for a nephew -

I got a couple of gifts last night for my parents at Hobbies and books as well. By the time I got to Book Nook, it was 8:53pm and the security guard said that the would close at 9, so I did not bother to rush in on that one.

I found a new audio store last night though, so I will swing in there sometime today.

Well doc, you are truly a lover of life. That is the impression given by your blog anyway. I shall ask the Bull to confirm that that is really what you are like.

This article from the Jamaica Observer is excellent. It relates to the Ringling Brothers circus, more particularly known as the four way race to the leadership of the ruling party in Jamaica. Yes doc - I know some folks are tyad of talkin, but this one is just some satire, something we can all do with at all times.

Boy, these last two weeks I returned to squash, not having played since 10th September 2004, the night before Ivan obliterated all 9 of the squash courts in Cayman. I feel some muscles that have been sleeping for years. Why people play sports voluntarily when it amounts to self-inflicted injury, is beyond rationalisation. I will try again on Saturday morning, since I have been invited by a good looking bomba so to do.

This is a quickie postie between last nite's work Christmas party, and the one tonight for my wife's work. One of my bloggionistas was there, with his lovely wife at his side - Some will know who that is.

Today I visited the book ship Logos II.

This ship is a huge floating book fair, with countless books for sale, really cheap. Her picture is above. I will try to go again before she leaves, without the children driving us beserk. The books are mainly spiritual and educational, but there is certainly no bookstore in Cayman with an amount of books on display which is any where near the vast amount on this ship. Its going to Bermuda from here.

Well, I do now know why, but most Jamaicans are happy with the fact that they become the subject of a lot of twisted humour. Once, I sent one joke to my aunt, and it did not sit well with her at all. (She is actually visiting in Cayman at the moment) She gave me what some of my limie colleagues would refer to as a "bollocking" and said "you are a Jamaican who has forgotten where he came from, and now is making fun of Jamaicans", or something like that - so - here goes - I start with the disclaimer that this is all in good fun, and feel no way.

Kinda cool here in the CI this weekend. Cold front passing through. My foreign colleagues would laugh at me, since by cold front, we mean 75 F. My a/c had been off for weeks, so my utility company, CUC, will have to wait a while before it sucks all of my living out of my blood claat.

Well, we have our 2nd Jazz Festival on this weekend, I will try and catch up with that this weekend. Last night my son did a great job narrating at his Christmas concert at his school.

Work, Play and Home

Can hardly get a chance to post these days. Its from one thing to the other. I have an aunt visiting from Jam, and I only saw her briefly, once.

She's around 72, but very adventurous - so I think I'll try to get her to Senor Frog's before she leaves.

Work was quite stressful today, our regulator came to do a 3 day inspection. My bosses, in their infinite wisdom, promised them a spreadsheet which did not exist, so I had to prepare it. At 430 p.m., after stressing about it all day, I finished it. Then I was burnt out.

A bit of stress at home as well, my father in law, at the ripe young age of 95, suffered a stroke last night. Today he is more alert, but he cant talk, and his entire right side seems to be paralysed. His picture is attached. He traveled the world as a mariner in his day and I have heard many of his seagoing stories. My mother in law, pictured to his left, passed away this past September. He had a CT scan today, but we have not heard from the Dr about what that shows.

Well, I don't know why Mad Bull thinks he needs to stop the beauty parade. If he needs to change anything, he can simply continue the parade, with the ladies not having gone to the trouble of wearing anything.

I will certainly not incite any further heated comments by going on about my truck any more, I will come up with something else, to blood cleat. I am just happy I was able to post a little suppn before someone, lets say, invites me to. I will delay the car talk a little more.

Hey folks -

I hung out at Singh's roti shop on Friday evening, downed a few Buds with a work colleague of mine, and then later, with a martial arts sensei. It's supposedly a Trini hangout, but mainly J'acans were hanging out and watching cricket, playing dominoes, and just limin, generally. As per the usual requirement, the staff was made up mainly of Bombas Centroamericanos.

During happy hour there is really no roti, just beer and finger food, but it was nice, still. I witnessed Brian Charles Lara break the test run total world record as he hit an impressive double ton down under.

Well they are now in the 2nd innings, so the best of luck to Brian, Chandie, and the rest of the Windies!

Just a short post today I think because the kids are acting up to bumbo!

I have to help calm them, and keep calm myself, as if that is possible! Blog ya later.

By the way, the cyber pageant being staged by the Mad Bull is replete with the handiwork of the Lord himself, nice Caribbean beaties to behold.

Well, I have been prompted by Dr. D to post something. Hopefully something will tickle your fancy here.

Well, the sporting world is scandalous as usual, one of the Portland Trailblazers just cussed his coach and they have suspended him for a while. But what is hidden in the small print at the bottom of the article is that this dude, Patterson, is a registered sex offender in Oregon, and gets millions as a professional athlete to rass! Here is another one, this time from the NFL, with the Philadelphia Eagles. I spoke about T.O. a few days ago, when he cussed his way to a season long suspension (though with full pay). Well his QB teammate, Donavan McNab, is now injured for the rest of the season. Now, you can eliminate one team from the playoffs for sure. Peyton Manning and the Colts are looking like Super Bowl to rass!

I would like to visit the Corner Pocket, and I probably will, but i read where some thug fired a shot into the sky in the parking lot of the same shopping centre where it is. Boy these young wimps with guns need a wake up call. So hopefully, I will catch up with my compadres Mad Bull and the Troubled one later on this week. I see where Trouble has mentioned it on his site.

Boy Trouble has been making some wicked posts recently. I can't possibly fit into his troubled shoes to rass. Also, the Bull has been solo recently. What does a Bull do without his wife, one wonders?

Blogger's Bloc?

It is amazing how serious bloggionistas can come up with nuff bloggin material. I mean some of you are for blogs what some people are for cellphones.

I always stare in wonderment at people who's ears always have a cellphone glued to them and think "ok, what else can be happening that I am just ignorant of?" Even the person who just drove 1 inch from your car so that he could leave the traffic lane, go into the oncoming traffic lane, then turn in front of you so that he could enter the road you are leaving has a telephone glued to his ear.

And to think most of those phones are pre-paid phones, so people have to be topping them up with minutes. Now I know the way of doing that has advanced, you can do it online, at the bank, at the gas station, even at the atm, but the rate at which some people are yabbering away on cellphones should leave them little time to top up, I think, but hey, I guess they just do it while they are still talking on the phone.

My doctor's office has several signs saying "no cell phones" which I guess means please switch them off. If I forget to turn mine off and it rings I usually run outside, and talk, switch off, and the run back inside. Most folks just sit there in the waiting room, oblivious, phone ringing, and then bellowing into the phone "Hello?" when it rings.

I remember being in court once and one of our magistrates, lets call her judge dread, locked up a woman for her cell phone once, because the stupid idiot not only had her phone ring, but answered it and struck up a loud discussion on her phone in the gallery of the court. Judge dredd let her out at the end of the day.

Now here in Cayman Digicel has acquired Cingular. Digicel has gotten quite big here in Cayman, usually all Jamaican's have a digi phone, or both a digi and a C & W. It gets ridiculous sometimes. Once I saw a contractor with 3. He said he had to call his staff (all J'can) on the digi, his wife on the C & W, and certain other folks on the post-paid C & W. Amazing. I am still with C&W but over the years lots of folks got tired of them and when the market was liberalised lots of folks did the switch. There is no number portability yet, so I can't switch without changing over.

In October I went to the local business expo, and all of the phone companies were selling phones really cheaply (even giving some away) - C&W were selling one for $19, and I think Digi was selling one for even less. These were prepaid phones though, and I have never gotten into this buying credit thing.

Lots of European folks were getting Digicel recently too apparently because of favourable long distance rates.

I can barely keep up with my one.

Now you may wonder what how these pics relate to the above tirade, well, nothing actually. Just look if you like and don't if you don't. What else can be said? The one on the right is a top5Jamaica girl.

Well, I had an extra long weekend, having added 2 days after our long weekend here in Cayman. One of the great things about that is that my week at work will be all of 2 days, before the weekend again. (Can you tell I like weekends? I am sure I'm not along on that one).

Hello blogaroos.

Nice to blog you again, having delinquently omitted to blog for about 6 days, to wit tuesday to Friday to rass. This ought to constitute some sort of criminal offence, prosecutable by an involuntary appearance on some kind of wall of shame website. Some has one already, I am sure. For example, Trouble has one linked to his website dedicated to poorly misrepresented chinese characters on tattoos. Now obviously the author has time.

Lot's of interesting folks out there blogging, including some a lady residing in the heart of Latinaville, Campfyah, who often has some interesting stories about the way of life in Venezuela. I await with baited breath her views on Mr. Chavez, one of Mr. Bush's favourite beating sticks.

I have been rather lazy this weekend, and I plan to pile on lots more donothingatalltorass. To sharpen things up a bit, I must run out to pick up some puros y unas cervezas. You know Campfyah, there's no Venezuelan beer here.

My friend at the national archive sent me this song for the Thanksgiving folks, I am not really into the thanksgiving itself, but I am into the food, therefore I will be nyamming (tr. eating) some turkey, should any traverse my immediate vicinity, and make entry to my digestive system, hopefully all of it proceeding thereafter to the exit, rather than to my mid section to rass. Any way here's the song enjoy it and shake your booties!

Any way, in between the wutlissniss, my boys had their respective swimming lessons, in 2 different places, and its off to softball for my 6 y.o. at 330. At the end of it all some rum haffe flow and some cigar ago bun. It a go bun!
